Wouldn’t it be great if you could give your kids a key code to get in the door and get alerted when they use it. You can use keyless access, keep track of who comes and goes in your home and you can use the Amazon Key App so that you can lock and unlock your door from the car as you arrive home or from work if it’s needed.
With the Amazon Key Home Kit you can choose who you give a code to and if you want to do it for a one time access for a contractor to do work on your home or make it temporary for how many days the work will take. Make it recurring for a cleaner or dog walker to access your home whenever they need to or permanent for members of your family. This put’s you in control of who can get in your home and you can also set it to lock after a short amount of time after it has been used so your kids are safely locked in without having to remember to lock the door. You can manage all of this from the app on your phone.
The lock included can be installed by yourself if you are handy or you can have it installed by a professional. It will replace your current lock and have a keypad on the outside.
If you have an Alexa device like the Echo Show you can enable the Amazon Key skill and then you can ask Alexa to lock your door or check if it is locked for you as well as asking it to show the live video feed for the security camera.
If you live in a certain area you can also use the in-home delivery service by Amazon.com where they will deliver your parcel inside your door. When the delivery driver arrives at your door it will be unlocked so that the parcel can be placed inside and then re-locked. So much better than having to find where the item has been placed around your home or have the risk of it being stolen.

The Amazon Cloud cam is meant to be set up so that you can see the front door. It will then record any access through the door so that you can watch your delivery happening live or view a video clip of it later. Amazon keeps you informed every step of the way by sending notifications the morning of delivery, just before it will be delivered , and right after to let you know you’re parcel has been safely left inside. You don’t have to have in-home delivery, you can choose to block it if you want to.
With the security camera in the Amazon Key Home Kit you can monitor your door live 24/7 with the app on your phone and check the videos within a 24 hour period for no extra charge. You can monitor your home with the cloud cam and get video clips in 1080p Full HD for clear viewing, you also have night vision, and two-way audio which allows you to speak someone in your home when you’re elsewhere.
You can buy more of these cameras to cover all of your rooms. You can run 3 with 24 hour video clip storage for free. If you want more cameras in your setup or longer video storage you can get access through a subscription.
Will this work with a separate security system?
This setup doesn’t integrate with other security systems so if you wanted in-home deliveries you would have to disable your alarm on delivery day, so it isn’t recommended if you have a problem with that.
What about in-home deliveries with pets?
If your pet is at home and can get access to the front door where the delivery will take place then it isn’t recommended. You wouldn’t want to take a chance of your pet escaping.
There are many customers who have had no issues with the installation or working of the lock and are loving everything about it. It has helped protect homes from thieves by informing the owners that the door had been opened, allowing them to inform the authorities and it’s also allowed deliveries in-house just the way it’s supposed to work. They are finding the app easy to use and simple to set up with Alexa.
The problems people have had with this Amazon Key Home Kit is that they had problems with the lock losing connection and not working without a key. People are a bit disappointed in the fact they can’t get in-home deliveries either because it’s not coming up as an option or there’s none available. Some people have had difficulties getting someone to install it although it was part of the purchase.
If you just love gadgets and are trying to make your home a smart home or if you really feel this will help you then check out the Amazon Key Home Kit. You will be able to keep a check on who is coming in and out of your home and can be sure that they are invited by you.
